The temperature of the earth
Inside the Earth, temperature rises when you get nearer to the centre. This increase in temperature is known as the geothermal gradient. It is calculated that in the outer layers, it is 1 °C for every 33 metres. At a depth of 13 km, the temperature is 200 °C and lava comes out of volcanoes at over 1 000 °C.
